PARIS, April 23 (Xinhua) -- A man armed with a knife was shot dead by police on Thursday in the southern French city of Marseille, according to French media reports.
During a traffic stop by municipal police, the man brandished a knife at the officers as he got out of his car. He was then "neutralized" by the officers who "opened fire," the newspaper Le Parisien reported, citing a source familiar with the case.
The circumstances of the incident remain unclear, and the local public prosecutor has arrived on the scene, the news channel BFMTV reported. ■
