BEIRUT, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on southern Lebanon on Friday, killing at least two people, authorities and media reports said.

Lebanon's Public Health Emergency Operations Center said an Israeli airstrike on the town of Touline at dawn killed two people.

Later in the day, Israeli warplanes launched three consecutive strikes on the town of Deir Aames, following an Israeli army warning for residents to evacuate, Lebanese official media reported.

The Israeli military had ordered residents to leave their homes at once and move at least 1,000 meters outside the town.

In a separate incident, Lebanon's National News Agency reported a large explosion carried out by Israeli forces in the border town of Naqoura.

The strikes come just one week after a ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel took effect after weeks of military escalation and cross-border clashes.

Despite the truce, the Israeli army has maintained forces inside a "security strip" in southern Lebanon, stretching, according to Israeli statements, from the western coast to the Mount Hermon area and the Syrian border in the east.
