HANOI, April 24 (Xinhua) -- A five-year socio-economic development plan for 2026-2030 was passed during the first session of the 16th National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam, which wrapped up on Friday.

The five-year plan targets annual gross domestic product growth of at least 10 percent. A medium-term public investment plan was also approved, setting total budget funding at 8.22 quadrillion Vietnamese dong (about 327.4 billion U.S. dollars).

During the session, lawmakers elected and approved 39 key positions, including the NA chairman, the president and the prime minister. They also adopted nine laws and 31 resolutions to institutionalize Party policies and unlock resources for socio-economic development.

In his closing remarks, NA chairman Tran Thanh Man called for the prompt and effective implementation of the adopted laws and resolutions, urging relevant agencies to ensure results in practice.
