BERLIN, April 24 (Xinhua) -- A ship operated by German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd has passed through the Strait of Hormuz, German public broadcaster ARD's Tagesschau program reported on Friday.
A spokesperson for Hapag-Lloyd told Tagesschau that one of its ships had passed the strategically vital waterway, without providing further details on the timing or circumstances.
Six Hapag-Lloyd ships with around 150 crew members had previously been stranded in the Persian Gulf due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The number has now decreased to four ships with approximately 100 crew members, the report said.
The company added that one of the ships is no longer part of its fleet after its charter contract expired. ■
