KABUL, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Construction work has officially begun on a new bridge in Azra district of eastern Afghanistan's Logar province, the provincial government office said on Thursday.
According to an official statement, the project is estimated to cost around 23 million afghanis (over 359,000 U.S. dollars). The bridge will be 63 meters in length and 5 meters in width, and is expected to significantly improve transportation and connectivity for local residents.
Authorities said that the project is scheduled for completion within one year. ■
