COLOMBO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's per capita income exceeded 5,000 U.S. dollars for the first time in 2025, reaching 5,003 U.S. dollars, state media reported Wednesday night, quoting the latest annual report of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

The central bank report showed that Sri Lanka's economy grew by 5 percent in 2025, a significant improvement compared with recent years.

Sri Lanka's gross domestic product rose to 32.75 trillion rupees (about 105 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025, up from 30.1 trillion rupees in 2024, according to central bank data.

Government revenue has risen to 16.7 percent of GDP, the data showed.
