GAZA, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Five Palestinians, including three children, were killed on Wednesday evening in an Israeli strike on the town of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian security and medical sources said.
An Israeli drone fired a missile at a group of people near Al-Qassam Mosque in Beit Lahia, security sources said.
A medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City told Xinhua that the hospital had received the bodies of five victims, including three children, in addition to several injured people with varying degrees of wounds.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement that hospitals in the enclave had received one body and four injured people over the past 24 hours.
According to the statement, since the announcement of a ceasefire on Oct. 10, 2025, 786 Palestinians have been killed and 2,217 others injured by Israeli attacks. The total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023 has risen to 72,562, with 172,320 others wounded. ■
