HANOI, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's exports of computers, electronic products and components reached 30.72 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter of this year, up 45.5 percent year on year, local media VnEconomy reported Thursday.

The United States remained the largest export market with shipments worth 12.36 billion dollars, followed by China with 4.39 billion dollars and the European Union with 2.89 billion dollars, said the report, citing the Department of Vietnam Customs.

In March alone, export turnover of the category was estimated at 13 billion dollars, the report added.

Meanwhile, the Southeast Asian country's imports of computers, electronic products and components reached 47.57 billion dollars during the three-month span, up 50.5 percent year on year.
