AMMAN, April 23 (Xinhua) -- A joint international humanitarian aid convoy departed from Jordan on Thursday for Lebanon, carrying essential food supplies, tents, and basic relief materials.
The 19-truck convoy is a collaborative initiative between Jordan, 10 friendly nations, and the European Union, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) said in a statement.
International partners contributing to the relief effort include Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Romania, Portugal, Germany, Singapore, Luxembourg, Spain, the Netherlands, and the European Union.
JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli said the operation aims to ensure the efficient and rapid delivery of assistance.
The convoy reinforces Jordan's status as a regional hub for humanitarian action and a reliable center for coordinating international responses, Shibli added.
This latest aid shipment came after Jordan sent 40 trucks of relief supplies to Lebanon over recent weeks as part of ongoing efforts to address the humanitarian situation in the country. ■
