MOSCOW, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The number of Russia's electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles has surpassed 200,000 units as of early April 2026, according to industry data released Tuesday.
Sergey Tselikov, director of the Russian automotive analytical agency Autostat, said that at the beginning of the year, the country had 192,600 electric and hybrid vehicles.
In the first three months of 2026, 2,300 new electric vehicles and 13,600 plug-in hybrids were registered, along with around 500 used electric cars. As a result, the total fleet of rechargeable vehicles grew to 208,000 units, he said.
Meanwhile, the Nissan Leaf accounts for 23 percent of the pure electric vehicle segment. Nearly 90 percent of the plug-in hybrid market is made up of new Chinese models, led by Li Auto and Voyah, Tselikov said. ■
