BEIJING, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.52 percent to 4,106.26 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.3 percent higher at 15,177.29 points.

The combined turnover of the two indices totaled 2.56 trillion yuan (about 373.2 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 2.41 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), optical fiber, and F5G-related stocks led the gains, while film and cinema chains, horse-racing-related shares, and the tourism and hotel sectors were among the biggest decliners.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.73 percent to close at 3,752.76 points on Wednesday.

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 1.75 percent higher at 1,874.6 points.
