BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.07 percent to 4,085.08 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.1 percent higher at 14,982.14 points.
The combined turnover of the two indices totaled 2.41 trillion yuan (about 351.34 billion U.S. dollars), down from 2.58 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the power, coal and oil sectors led the rally, while electronics, medical device and furniture stocks witnessed marked losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.31 percent to close at 3,688.94 points Tuesday.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.81 percent lower at 1,842.37 points on Tuesday. ■
