ZAGREB, April 20 (Xinhua) -- A majority of Croatians believe the United States and Israel bear the primary responsibility for the latest conflict in the Middle East, according to the "HRejting" survey released by the Croatian Radiotelevision on Monday.

The poll, conducted between April 15 and April 17 with a sample of 1,000 respondents, highlights deep public concern over regional stability and a widespread perception that military actions in the region have bypassed international legal frameworks.

According to the data, 38.2 percent of respondents identified the United States as the main party responsible for the conflict, followed by Israel at 24.5 percent. In contrast, only 3.4 percent of those surveyed blamed Iran.

The HRejting results also showed a strong consensus regarding recent strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel. Approximately 76 percent of respondents characterized the attacks as "unilateral aggression" by the United States and Israel, describing them as a direct violation of international law.

Reflecting a somber outlook on the geopolitical situation, 64 percent of respondents said that there are no winners in the war.

On Feb. 28, Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities, killing Iran's then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, senior commanders, and civilians. Iran responded with waves of missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and U.S. bases and assets in the Middle East.

A ceasefire took effect on April 8. Iranian and U.S. delegations then held talks in Islamabad on April 11-12, but no progress was reported.
