MOSCOW, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Russia has lifted restrictions on flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and through Iran's airspace, the Russian Transport Ministry said Monday.
Russia's federal aviation agency Rosaviatsiya, in coordination with the transport ministry and foreign ministry, has withdrawn its recommendation for Russian airlines to suspend ticket sales for flights to and from the UAE.
Restrictions on Russian carriers flying through Iranian airspace have also been lifted, allowing transit flights and flights to Iranian airports.
The Transport Ministry said it will continue monitoring the situation in the Middle East and may adjust flight operations if necessary.
Rosaviatsiya had issued the relevant recommendations and repeatedly extended them amid escalating tensions in the region following strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran and subsequent retaliatory actions. ■
