YANGON, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and about 10 others injured in a harbor fire in Sagaing region, a local police officer told Xinhua on Tuesday.
An oil-carrying motorboat caught fire and exploded at a harbor in Homalin town at around 6 p.m. local time on Monday, and the blaze spread to nearby motorboats, the officer said.
As a result, one man and one woman were killed and about 10 people were injured, the officer said, adding that around 10 motorboats were also destroyed in the blaze.
The fire burned through the night, and some parts were still burning on Tuesday morning, according to the officer.
The injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment, the officer added. ■
