BEIJING, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Henry Giles scored the final hit to help the Jiangsu Dragons edge the Shanxi Loongs 87-86 in the 40th round of the 2025-26 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) regular season on Saturday.
Trailing 41-47 in the first half, Jiangsu overtook the game by a 12-0 run at the beginning of the third quarter. But the fourth quarter saw the Loongs caught up and led 86-85 with 18 seconds remaining. Giles hit the final layup a second later to seal the victory 87-86.
Giles scored 36 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The Loongs' Daishen Nix scored 20 points, while his teammate, former NBA player Hamidou Diallo, only got 8 points.
The Tianjin Pioneers took the lead in the first half with 34-28. However, the Qingdao Eagles came from behind in the second half and snatched a 106-97 win with an 11-0 run in the final quarter.
The Pioneer's guard Javion Hamlet scored 46 points, claiming his highest score in CBA. His teammates David James scored 26 points and Lin Tingqian added 19. As for the Eagles, Jordan Mickey scored 35 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Shanghai Sharks claimed its 21st winning streak, smashing the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 111-86. The Shenzhen Aviators also extended its winning runs to 15, beating the Ningbo Rockets 106-96
In other action, the Beijing Ducks routed the Shandong Heroes 92-76, the Zhejiang Lions upset the Nanjing Monkey Kings 91-82, the Beijing Royal Fighters thrashed the Sichuan Blue whales 93-71, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls beat the Liaoning Flying Leopards 76-71, The Guangzhou Loong Lions downed the Jilin Northeast Tigers 93-75, and the Fujian Sturgeons tamed the Guangdong Southern Tigers 95-83. ■
