HAIKOU, April 18 (Xinhua) -- The China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) and the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) are mutually reinforcing, generating replicable institutional innovations and practical experience, said Zeng Rong, chief economist and spokesperson for the Hainan provincial bureau of international economic development, in the latest episode of the China Economic Roundtable, an all-media talk show hosted by Xinhua News Agency.
Zeng said that the expo's role aligns closely with the FTP's development, significantly promoting high-level openness. The expo enhances the FTP's international profile by attracting exhibitors and visitors worldwide.
It also accelerates Hainan's development as an international tourism and consumption hub. Leveraging the expo platform and policy incentives such as duty-free shopping for offshore island travelers, premium global products are increasingly entering Hainan.
Additionally, during the expo, many participating companies conduct field visits, leading to the landing of several projects. This fosters the development of a modern industrial system, creating more opportunities for the FTP, Zeng said. ■
