HANOI, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's southern hub Ho Chi Minh City has launched free health check-ups for residents aged 18 and above at 168 health stations on Friday, local daily VnExpress reported.

Hundreds of doctors and medical workers from more than 100 hospitals have been deployed across the city to provide free screening services and create electronic health records for residents.

Nguyen Manh Cuong, vice chairman of the municipal people's committee, said the city aims to ensure that all residents undergo health check-ups and disease screening at least once by 2026.

This marks the first time the city has implemented large-scale free health screening for the general population, according to the report.
