JERUSALEM/BEIRUT -- A 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon took effect on Friday, following an announcement earlier by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The leaders of the two countries "have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST (2100 GMT)," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Thursday. (Israel-Lebanon-Ceasefire)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday said that even after the ceasefire with Hezbollah takes effect, Israel will maintain a 10-km security zone in southern Lebanon.
