NEW DELHI, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Four Naxals, including a top commander, were killed in a gunfight in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand, the state-run broadcaster All India Radio said Friday.
The gunfight between Naxals and joint contingents of police and paramilitary broke out at Piparwar-Keredari border area of Hazaribag district, about 87 km north of Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, police have claimed the recovery of a large cache of weapons and ammunition from the site.
India's federal government had resolved to eradicate Naxalism before March 31, 2026.
Currently, Naxals are active across the central and eastern parts of India. ■
