COTONOU, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Minister of State for Economy and Finance Romuald Wadagni has won the April 2026 presidential election in the first round with 94.27 percent of the valid votes, against 5.73 percent for his moderate opposition rival, former Minister of Culture Paul Hounkpe, according to provisional results announced Thursday afternoon by the Constitutional Court, Benin's highest authority on electoral disputes. ■
