KABUL, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's electricity utility has launched a new 20kV power project worth over 8 million U.S. dollars in northern Afghanistan's Balkh province to improve electricity distribution and reduce power losses, local media Tolo news reported on Thursday.
According to the report, the project, valued at around 523 million afghanis (approximately 8.17 million U.S. dollars), will upgrade an existing 6kV network to a 20kV system. The upgrade is expected to enhance grid stability and provide more reliable electricity to residents and businesses in the province.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to expand electricity access and improve service delivery across Afghanistan. ■
