KABUL, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics police have seized 413 kg of narcotics and 1,323 kg of precursor materials during separate operations in southern Helmand province, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said on Thursday.
The operations were conducted in Lashkar Gah, the capital city and adjoin districts of the province, the ministry said in a statement.
Without giving details on whether anyone was arrested in connection with the case, the ministry stated that the police will not allow anyone to produce, purchase, or smuggle illegal drugs across the country.
The Afghan government has stepped up its crackdown on illicit drugs and those involved in the business, vowing to fight the menace until the country is free from poppy cultivation and substances used in the manufacturing of heroin. ■
