DHAKA, April 15 (Xinhua) -- The Bangladeshi government has imposed a 58-day ban on fishing in the Bay of Bengal to help ensure the smooth breeding of fish and boost depleted fish stocks.
The ban came into effect from midnight on April 14 and will continue until midnight on June 11.
According to a recent official notification of the country's Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, this ban has been imposed with the aim of proper breeding, production, conservation of fish resources, and sustainable fishing in the marine waters of the country. ■
