BAGHDAD, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Two explosive-laden drones were intercepted on Tuesday over Erbil province in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, local authorities said.
The incident occurred at 5:04 local time (1404 GMT) when the two drones, which authorities said had been directed toward Erbil from Iranian territory, were destroyed in the air, according to a statement by the regional Directorate General of Counter Terrorism.
The statement said the drones were downed by a warplane before reaching their target area.
No casualties were reported following the interception. ■
