KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's flood losses eased to 636.9 million ringgit (161.28 million U.S. dollars) in 2025 from 933.4 million ringgit in 2024, official data showed Wednesday.
The losses were equivalent to 0.03 percent of the nominal gross domestic product during the year, down from 0.05 percent in 2024, the Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement.
Public assets and infrastructure accounted for the highest losses at 380.2 million ringgit, it said.
This was followed by living quarters (183.8 million ringgit), the agriculture sector (52.6 million ringgit), and business premises (13.4 million ringgit).
Vehicle damage amounted to 6.8 million ringgit, while the manufacturing sector recorded the lowest impact at 100,000 ringgit. (1 ringgit equals 0.25 U.S. dollars) ■
