CAIRO, April 14 (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) on Tuesday dispatched a new humanitarian aid convoy to the Gaza Strip, carrying food, relief supplies, and winter essentials, as deaths continue to be reported in the enclave despite an ongoing ceasefire.
The shipment included more than 155,000 food baskets, about 185 tons of flour, over 1,435 tons of relief materials and medicines, and around 1,055 tons of petroleum products to operate hospitals and other vital facilities in Gaza, according to a statement by the ERC.
Winter supplies comprised more than 14,400 clothing items, about 1,000 blankets, 375 mattresses, 10,370 tarpaulins, and 2,055 tents, the statement added.
This marks the 176th convey sent from Egypt since the ERC launched its Gaza aid initiative in late July 2025.
The ERC said it has delivered more than 900,000 tons of aid through more than 65,000 volunteers since the outbreak of the crisis in late 2023.
It also continues to facilitate the entry and return of injured Palestinians and their escorts at the Rafah crossing.
A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect in October 2025. Since then, 757 Palestinians have been killed and 2,111 others wounded by Israeli army fire, bringing the total number of casualties to 72,336 dead and 172,213 wounded, according to figures released by Gaza's health authorities on Tuesday. ■
