JAKARTA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia said YouTube, owned by Google, has failed to comply with the country's new child protection regulations, prompting a shift from advisories to formal sanctions.
"Google has received a red mark. There are no signals of compliance in the near term, so we are escalating from inspection to sanctions," Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid said in a statement released on Friday.
The ministry issued a warning letter as the initial stage of administrative sanctions, while leaving room for corrective action. It stressed zero tolerance for violations that compromise child safety.
According to the statement, all digital platforms deemed "high risk" must submit action plans and risk reports within three months, which will guide further compliance measures. ■
