French air force training plane crashes in southeast France, 2 injured

PARIS, April 10 (Xinhua) -- A French air force training plane crashed on Friday in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, southeast France, leaving two pilots injured, local media reported.

The Cirrus SR-20 aircraft of the French Air and Space Force crashed in an uninhabited area in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department at around 9:30 a.m. local time (0730 GMT) during a training flight, according to the French daily Le Monde, citing the French Ministry of Armed Forces.

The Cirrus SR-20 is a single-engine aircraft used for initial pilot training. The two pilots on board were injured but remained conscious and were taken to hospital, Le Monde reported.

An investigation has been launched by the Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety to determine the cause of the crash.
