BISSAU, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank has lifted its suspension of disbursements for projects in Guinea-Bissau effective April 3, the government said on Thursday.
The government said in a statement that the decision followed a review by the World Bank and would allow ongoing operations in the country to resume normally.
The statement, citing a letter from World Bank Division Director Djibrilla Adamou Issa to Transitional Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ilidio Vieira Te, said payment processing and project activities under existing financing would restart immediately.
The government said the World Bank also welcomed measures taken by the Guinean authorities to facilitate the return of financing.
The World Bank suspended operations and disbursements for Guinea-Bissau in January following the country's political turmoil in late November 2025, according to media reports. ■
