BAGHDAD, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced on Wednesday that it would suspend military operations in Iraq and the surrounding region for two weeks.
This move followed the announcement of a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran earlier in the day.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group for pro-Iranian militias, has intensified attacks on U.S. "occupation bases" and Israeli targets after the Iran war broke out on Feb. 28. ■
