JERUSALEM, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli military said on Wednesday it had completed "the largest coordinated strike across Lebanon" since the start of the regional conflict, hours after a U.S.-Iran truce came into effect.

Israel struck areas in the Lebanese capital Beirut, the Beqaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, and southern Lebanon.

According to a statement from the military, the strikes took place "within 10 minutes and across multiple areas simultaneously." It said it targeted more than 100 Hezbollah command centers and military sites.

"This is the largest strike carried out against Hezbollah infrastructure since the start of Operation Roaring Lion," the military said, referring to Israel's name for its operation against Iran, which began with a joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Feb. 28 and sparked conflicts across the region.

A two-week ceasefire was announced by the United States and Iran early on Wednesday. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country would comply with the truce but would continue its attacks in Lebanon.
