BEIRUT, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and at least seven others wounded on Monday in Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon, authorities said, as cross-border hostilities continued between Israel and Hezbollah.
Lebanon's Public Health Emergency Operations Center said an Israeli drone strike on the town of Haris in the Bint Jbeil district killed two people, and one person was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Hamadiyeh area in the Tyre district.
Another person was killed, and three others were wounded in an airstrike on the town of Berghoz. Israeli forces targeted paramedic teams in the town of Siddiqine in the Tyre district, while they were carrying out rescue operations following a previous airstrike, killing one paramedic and wounding four others.
Meanwhile, Lebanon's Disaster Risk Management Unit said in its daily report that the cumulative death toll is 1,497 and the number of wounded is 4,639 since the start of the ongoing hostilities on March 2.
Hezbollah said Monday in a series of statements that it targeted an Israeli tank in the town of Rshaf in southern Lebanon with a guided missile and launched two rocket barrages at the settlements of Nahariyya and Kiryat Shmona in Israel.
The cross-border violence comes amid continued escalation and ongoing exchanges of fire along the Lebanon-Israel border. ■
