KATHMANDU, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The Supreme Court of Nepal on Monday directed the government to conclude the investigation against former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak by Wednesday or release them.
Passing a verdict on petitions filed by the families of Oli and Lekhak, the court asked to complete the investigation against them and decide whether or not to lodge cases within the remand period, and if not, release them in accordance with the National Criminal Procedure.
Their custody was extended for the third time until Wednesday by the Kathmandu District Court.
Nepal Police arrested Oli and Lekhak on March 28 for their alleged involvement in suppressing the Gen Z protest in September 2025, which took dozens of lives. ■
