MANAMA, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain's Public Prosecution announced on Monday that it had ordered the detention of suspects accused of collaborating with Iranian intelligence services and the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).
The Public Prosecution said on its X account that the suspects had been ordered by those groups to monitor and collect information about vital sites in the kingdom.
Investigations revealed the suspects carried out their assignments and filmed the resulting destruction from the "aggression" against the kingdom.
In its latest figures released on Monday, the Bahrain Defense Force said it had intercepted and destroyed 188 missiles and 468 drones since the start of the Iranian attacks on the kingdom.
The developments came amid heightened regional tensions following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran starting on Feb. 28, to which Iran and its regional allies responded with attacks on Israeli and U.S. interests across the Middle East. ■
