RIO DE JANEIRO, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Aldemir Ferreira netted a hat-trick as Sao Paulo cruised to a 4-1 home win over Cruzeiro in Brazil's Serie A on Saturday.
Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot after Lucas Villalba brought down Artur with a bad foul.
Ferreira doubled the lead four minutes later, running onto Artur's through ball and finishing clinically past goalkeeper Matheus Cunha.
The visitors pulled a goal back through Christian, who side-footed in from point-blank range following Keny Arroyo's cross.
But Ferreira restored his team's two-goal lead when he pounced on a loose ball after a corner and lashed a powerful drive that beat Cunha at his near post.
Sao Paulo completed the rout in the first minute of stoppage time as Ferreira cut inside on the counterattack and fired a cool finish into the far corner.
The result leaves Sao Paulo with 20 points, two behind leader Palmeiras, while Cruzeiro is 18th in the 20-team standings with seven points. ■
