HANOI, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's GDP expanded 7.83 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2026, the National Statistics Office said Saturday.
The growth marked the highest first-quarter increase in the past 16 years, local daily VnExpress reported.
The agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector grew 3.58 percent from a year earlier, while industry and construction expanded 8.92 percent and services rose 8.18 percent, according to the office.
Growth in trade and services was driven by strong consumer demand during the Lunar New Year holiday and a surge in international arrivals.
Vietnam has set a target of achieving double-digit GDP growth in 2026. ■
