BUENOS AIRES, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Marcelo Estigarribia and Cristian Tarragona were on target as Union Santa Fe eased to a 2-0 home win over 10-man Deportivo Riestra in Argentina's Apertura tournament on Friday.
The hosts took the lead in the 21st minute when Estigarribia converted a penalty after Lautaro Vargas was brought down by Rodrigo Gallo.
The visitors were forced to play more than an hour with 10 men after Yonatan Goitia was shown a straight red card for an ugly challenge on Vargas.
Union took control of the match and doubled its lead through Tarragona, who finished clinically in second-half stoppage time after combining with Estigarribia.
The result leaves Union fifth in the 15-team Group A with 19 points, three behind leader Velez Sarsfield. Deportivo Riestra is 14th, having yet to register a win in 12 outings.
In other Argentine top-flight fixtures on Friday, Gimnasia Mendoza won 3-2 at home to Velez, and San Lorenzo secured a 1-0 home win over Estudiantes. ■
