KABUL, April 3 (Xinhua) -- A woman has been confirmed dead and four others sustained injuries as lightning struck a village in Mizan district of southern Afghanistan's Zabul province on Thursday, reported the official news agency Bakhtar on Thursday night.
The natural disaster took place amid rainstorms and flooding, and all the injured had been shifted to the hospital for medical treatment, according to the media outlet.
This is the third incident of its kind over the past six days. Earlier thunder and lightning left a shepherd dead in the northern Samangan province and injured six others, including two women and four children, in the eastern Nangarhar on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
The natural disaster took place amid monsoon rains and flooding, as 51 people have been killed and 89 others injured across Afghanistan due to rainstorms and flooding over the past week, while the meteorological department of the country has forecast more rain and flooding over the next 24 hours. ■
