FREETOWN, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) announced late Thursday the immediate termination of Mohamed Kallon as head coach of the national men's football team, Leone Stars.
In a statement issued by the association, the decision was described as a resolution duly adopted by its Executive Committee in the exercise of its statutory and administrative mandate.
"The appointment of Mr. Mohamed Kallon as Head Coach of the Sierra Leone National Men's Football Team has been terminated with immediate effect," the statement said.
According to the SLFA, the decision followed "due deliberation and a considered assessment of the technical, administrative, and strategic imperatives of the national team."
The SLFA expressed appreciation for Kallon's service during his tenure and extended best wishes for his future professional endeavors.
Kallon, born on October 6, 1979, is widely regarded as Sierra Leone's most celebrated footballer. A former striker, he played for top European clubs including Inter Milan and AS Monaco, and became the youngest-ever Sierra Leone international at age 15.
He was officially appointed head coach of Leone Stars in 2025 and previously owned and coached Kallon FC. ■
