JERUSALEM, April 2 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Thursday that its air force killed Makram Atimi, commander of Iran's ballistic missile unit in the western Iranian area of Kermanshah.
Atimi was responsible for the unit's operations in the Kermanshah region and carried out dozens of ballistic missile launches toward Israel, according to the statement.
The IDF added that in another strike, it killed several battalion commanders from the Iranian ballistic missile unit "responsible for dozens of launches against Israel from northwestern Iran."
The killings have further degraded Iran's ballistic missile unit, alongside the ongoing dismantling of missile infrastructure in western and central Iran, it said.
The IDF added that it is continuing to strike Iran's firepower arrays, aiming to reduce the scope of missile attacks targeting Israel. ■
