THE HAGUE, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The Netherlands has overtaken Germany to become the world's largest exporter of cocoa products in 2025, with export values reaching 12.4 billion euros (14.3 billion U.S. dollars), Statistics Netherlands (CBS) announced on Friday.

According to CBS, exports of cocoa products, including chocolate, cocoa butter, cocoa powder and cocoa mass, have nearly tripled from 4.2 billion euros (4.84 billion dollars) in 2020. About three-quarters of Dutch cocoa exports consisted of semi-manufactured products, while the remainder were finished goods such as chocolate last year.

Germany remains the largest destination for Dutch cocoa exports, accounting for roughly 25 percent of the total, followed by Belgium with 13 percent. France, Britain and the United States are also major markets.

On the supply side, 27 percent of cocoa imports originate from Cote d'Ivoire, with additional volumes sourced from Ghana, Cameroon and Nigeria.

Cocoa exports generated around 3 billion euros (3.46 billion dollars) in earnings for the Dutch economy in 2025, CBS said.
