KABUL, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Two children lost their lives and five others were injured as the roof of their house collapsed in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province on Friday, provincial director for Information and Culture Qurishi Badlon said.
The deadly incident took place amid heavy rains and flooding, the official added.
A similar accident also caused one dead and another injured in the neighboring Haska Mina district a day earlier.
Rainstorms and flooding have destroyed more than 500 acres of farmland in Nangarhar, killing animals and destroying poultry farms.
The natural disaster took place amid monsoon rains and flooding as 51 people have been killed and 89 others injured across Afghanistan over the past week. More rains and flooding are forecast over the next 24 hours. ■
