RIYADH, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud on Thursday held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the regional military escalation, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The two sides addressed the negative repercussions of the current situation, particularly its impact on maritime security and global economy, the SPA reported.
They also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of mutual interest, it reported.
In the phone call, Putin affirmed Russia's support for safeguarding Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and territorial security, it reported.
The phone call came amid heightened regional tensions following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran starting on Feb. 28, to which Iran and its regional allies responded with attacks on Israeli and U.S. interests across the Middle East. ■
