KABUL, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Around 1,500 drug-addicted individuals have rejoined their families after rehabilitation in northern Afghanistan's Baghlan province, reported the official Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) on Thursday.
All the former addicts have received medical treatment free of charge, the report said, adding that the government would do its best to round up drug-addicted people from across the country and rehabilitate them free of charge.
Although there are no official statistics on the number of drug-addicted people in post-war Afghanistan or those who have recovered, more than 3 million drug addicts reportedly exist in the country. ■
