ISLAMABAD, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces killed three terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said on Wednesday.
The operation was conducted on Monday in Bannu district, where troops engaged the terrorists during an exchange of fire, according to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the Pakistani military.
Sanitization operations are underway to clear the area of any remaining terrorists.
The operation is part of an ongoing counter-terrorism campaign aimed at eliminating terrorism from the country. ■
