HANOI, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's capital Hanoi launched 10 electric bus routes with a total of 288 vehicles on Wednesday, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
By April 30, an additional 170 electric buses on 11 routes are expected to be put into operation, bringing the city's total to 39 electric bus routes with 683 vehicles.
By the same date, the total number of buses using green energy across the city is projected to reach 822, including 683 electric buses and 139 compressed natural gas-powered buses, accounting for 42.1 percent of the total fleet.
According to the roadmap for developing low-emission zones, all buses operating within Ring Road 1, which covers the city's core urban areas, must use green energy starting from July 1 this year. ■
