KABUL, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) reported on Wednesday that 28,474 foreign nationals entered and exited the country via airports and land border crossings over the past year.

According to the NSIA, the highest numbers of arrivals and departures were recorded through the Nimroz, Herat, Faryab, Torkham, and Hairatan crossings, as well as major airports across the country.

The agency said tourism and work-related activities were the main purposes of these trips, with many visitors traveling to explore Afghanistan's historical and cultural sites.

Officials noted that the data indicated continued movement of foreign nationals despite ongoing regional security and travel challenges.
