LONDON, April 1 (Xinhua) -- A tanker off Qatar was hit by two projectiles, one of which caused a fire that has since been extinguished, while the other remains unexploded in the vessel's engine room, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Wednesday.
The UKMTO said it was unable to confirm the source of the projectiles and that relevant authorities were investigating the incident.
In an earlier warning, it said that the incident was reported about 17 nautical miles north of Ras Laffan.
The agency also advised vessels to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to the UKMTO. ■
