KABUL, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Three commuters lost their lives as their car was washed away by flash floods in northern Afghanistan's Samangan province on Tuesday evening, said a statement from the provincial police office on Wednesday.
The incident took place in Feroz Nakhchir district on Tuesday evening amid heavy rains and flooding, the statement said, adding that a woman and two children lost their lives in the flash flood.
Two bodies have been recovered, and efforts for the recovery of a child are ongoing, the statement added.
Around four dozen people have lost their lives and over 60 others sustained injuries due to heavy rains and flooding across Afghanistan over the past week.
Parts of Afghanistan, including the capital city Kabul, have been receiving monsoon rains since early last week. At the same time, the meteorological department has forecast more rain over the next 24 hours. ■
